By Hernan Zambrano, Installation in situ, 2016
This projects is the result of a collaboration with the sound artist Daiana Romero. This sound and light installation plays in a loop a travel diary that goes from France to the heart of the Amazon forest. The sounds captured during this trip were used by the artist to create a musical composition for Octophonie. Combining myths, popular stories and mystical beliefs, this composition draws a parallel between Western and Amerindian tribal culture. The sound material of this trip lead to the configuration of the lighting device. In fact, the light effects were designed to capture the various rhythms, intensities and atmospheres of the sound composition by means of the movements of the three light sources and the vibrations of a water surface.
